Husův sbor is a functionalist church building located in the Smíchov district of Prague. The structure displays clean geometric shapes, flat surfaces, and abandons the ornamental details typical of conventional church architecture.
The building was constructed in 1935 during a period of architectural renewal in Czechoslovakia. It represented a clear break from traditional church design and reflected modern currents that reshaped religious architecture.
The building served a reformed community that carried forward Hussite traditions and beliefs through worship and fellowship. Members gathered here to practice their faith distinct from Catholic and mainstream Protestant denominations.
The main entrance is elevated above street level and accessed by stairs. Visitors should note that the building regularly hosts services and community gatherings, so timing matters.
A striking feature is the chalice symbol prominently displayed above the main portal. This symbol connects to Hussite tradition and their emphasis on communion for all believers.
