Statues in Flower Garden

The Statues in Flower Garden is a colonnade featuring 44 stone figures depicting gods, mythological beings, and characters from antiquity arranged along white columns. The structure extends across a significant length and forms a continuous covered passage that runs through the garden.

The colonnade was designed in the 17th century by architect Filiberto Lucchese, who sought to merge Italian Renaissance garden principles with French Baroque aesthetics. This combination of two garden traditions was central to the reshaping of the estate.

The statues represent classical themes that were popular during the Baroque period, showing how artists of that time translated mythology into stone. They are arranged deliberately throughout the formal garden layout, encouraging visitors to walk and observe them from different vantage points.

The site is accessible throughout the year with clear pathways running along the entire length of the structure. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes as the ground can be uneven, and plan enough time to observe the numerous figures at a leisurely pace.

Each figure stands on a raised platform, allowing visitors to grasp the geometric patterns of the garden from multiple viewpoints. This arrangement makes it possible to understand the overall composition of the garden without having to move far.
