The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius stands in the centre of the Psychiatric Hospital complex in Kroměříž. Hubert Gessner and Josef Šálek designed it in Art Nouveau style as a Palladian central building on a Greek-cross plan, topped by a 27-metre double reinforced-concrete dome with a lantern. The dome was originally covered with yellow glazed tiles held by wire hooks.

The Moravian Provincial Assembly decided in 1902 to build the Provincial Sanatorium of Emperor Franz Joseph I for the mentally ill, and construction ran from 1904 to 1909. Olomouc Archbishop František Saleský Bauer consecrated the institutional church, pavilion 28, on 11 July 1909. From its opening until 1920 the pastor here was Matěj Pavlík, later an Orthodox bishop.

The church is called "under the yellow dome" in local speech, because its dome was originally covered with yellow glazed tiles held by wire hooks; the nickname came to stand for the whole institute. Mass with Sunday obligation is held every Saturday at 4:30 pm by the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Maurice. The painter Jano Köhler made the altarpiece "Arrival of the missionaries Cyril and Methodius in Moravia" and the angel mosaics beside the main entrance.

The church is pavilion 28 in the centre of the Psychiatric Hospital complex, and Mass with Sunday obligation is held every Saturday at 4:30 pm, provided by the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Maurice. Access to the grounds passes through the hospital, so visitors should confirm entry conditions with the facility beforehand.

The church's yellow glazed roof tiles gave the whole institution its nickname: locals said one was going "under the yellow dome". The 27-metre reinforced-concrete double dome with lantern was designed by Hubert Gessner, who took up his teacher Otto Wagner's church at the Steinhof asylum in Vienna. The building is pavilion 28 of the hospital complex.
