Church of Saints Peter and Paul

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul stands in the center of Štěpánov nad Svratkou with a distinctive bell tower and iron cross by its entrance. The building displays Cubist architectural elements from its 1920s reconstruction.

A devastating fire in 1917 destroyed most of the original 13th-century structure. The reconstruction between 1923 and 1924 under architect Kopřiva's direction fundamentally transformed the building.

The interior displays an altar painting by Fr. Süsser and Stations of the Cross artwork by Pokorný from Tišnov. These pieces shape the visual character of the space and reflect its artistic heritage.

The building received a new copper roof in 1999 that shapes its exterior appearance. The adjacent 18th-century parish building can be viewed and offers additional insights into local history.

The building displays Cubism, an unusual style for a church that was applied during its modern reconstruction in the 1920s. This architectural choice makes it a rare example of this artistic movement in religious contexts.
