Zubštejn Castle Ruins

Zubštejn Castle Ruins are the remains of a fortified structure perched on a hillside, featuring preserved stone walls, corridors, and multiple levels that can be explored. The layout reveals how medieval builders designed these spaces to move through and defend the hilltop position.

The castle was established in 1314 as a fortified point to oversee silver mining operations in the surrounding area. Over time, the structure was abandoned and gradually declined into the ruins visible today.

The site is best reached on foot via a marked hiking path starting from the Pivonice area, leading uphill through woodland. The terrain can be steep and muddy, especially after rain, so sturdy footwear is advisable.
