Kaple svatých Sedmipočetníků a svaté Zdislavy, Roman Catholic chapel in Vír, Czech Republic

The Chapel of the Seven Holy Founders and Saint Zdislava is a Roman Catholic chapel built in 1998 in the middle of Vír, near the Svratka River. Its presbytery holds paintings of Saints Cyril, Methodius and their companions by Zdirad Jan Křtitel Čech, who also painted the Crucifixion, the Virgin of Sorrows and the Stations of the Cross. The liturgical space also has an altar, an ambo and a tabernacle.

The chapel was built in 1998. Its foundation stone had been blessed by Pope John Paul II in Prague on 27 April 1997, during his visit to the city. The chapel is dedicated to the Seven Holy Founders and St Zdislava.

The paintings in the chancel depict Saints Cyril, Methodius and their companions, made by the painter Zdirad Jan Křtitel Čech. The same artist painted the Crucifixion with the Virgin of Sorrows and the painted Stations of the Cross. The chapel is dedicated to the Seven Holy Founders and to St. Zdislava.

The chapel stands in the middle of Vír, close to the Svratka River, with a cast-iron cross facing the entrance. It is maintained by the Roman Catholic parish of Rovečné. Visitors should note that it serves as an active place of worship for the local community, so respectful conduct is expected.

The chapel's foundation stone was blessed by Pope John Paul II in Prague on 27 April 1997, a year before the building was completed. The stone is the only part of the chapel that the pope personally touched during his visit to the Czech Republic.
