Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Gothic cemetery church in Velhartice, Czech Republic
The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene features a northeast vestibule with diamond vaulting and stands among agricultural fields near Velhartice castle.
Construction of the church began in 1373, followed by substantial Gothic renovations during the 16th century that included adding the cemetery gate and portals.
The church previously housed the Velhartice Ark, a three-part Gothic altar from 1490, which now resides in the National Gallery at Prague's Convent of St Agnes.
The religious building maintains accessibility for wheelchair users and connects to walking paths leading toward Werich's cottage and neighboring medieval castles.
The cemetery church underwent modifications in the 19th century while maintaining its Gothic architectural elements from previous centuries.
