The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a Roman Catholic parish church in Protivanov, built in the Classical style and completed in 1772. Its tower, finished in 1905, replaced an earlier one demolished as unsafe. The church has a side sacristy and stands before a stone cross dated 1894, with a cemetery behind it.

The original church, probably built in the first half of the 16th century, burned down in 1711. A new Neoclassical church was completed in 1772. In 1905 a new tower replaced the old one, which had been demolished because it was unsafe. The church was restored between 1984 and 1992.

The church is the parish church of Protivanov, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Its furnishings reflect local devotion: the main altar of the Nativity dates from 1894, with side altars to Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Lourdes, and statues of Saints Cyril and Methodius from 1863.

The church stands in the centre of Protivanov, with a stone cross from 1894 in front of the entrance. The cemetery lies behind the church. The tower, rebuilt in 1905, is the easiest landmark to orient by when approaching through the town.

The tower bell dates from 1772 and was cast by Jan Adam Heckelmann of Mikulov; it survived the tower's 1905 replacement. Inside are statues of Saints Cyril and Methodius from 1863, and a stone cross of 1894 stands before the entrance.
