Starosedlský Hrádek

Starosedlský Hrádek is a solid stone building with thick walls and arched ceilings that sits on the shore of a lake. The construction shows medieval craftsmanship using massive oak beams and is now a protected cultural monument.

The house was built in the 14th century as a fortified residence and underwent major rebuilding until 1669. Ownership changed hands among local noble families, Jesuit monks, and eventually the Schwarzenberg family.

The architectural design shows early baroque influences that you can see in the details of rooms and facades throughout the building. These features make the place an important example of how the region's style developed over centuries.

Access to the grounds is fairly straightforward since the house sits on flat land with good paths around it. Visitors should plan enough time to explore all areas of the property, including the gardens and interior rooms.

A decorated well about 15 meters deep sits on the front lawn and catches your eye immediately. The lake surrounding the property has supported substantial carp populations since the 15th century, a practice that continues today.
