Bošovice Keep

Bošovice Keep is a stone fortified residence in South Moravia combining Gothic arches with Renaissance details. The building stands on elevated terrain and demonstrates how both architectural styles were integrated into its design.

The fortification was built in 1398 and served as a stronghold during conflicts in the region. Changes were made to its structure over the centuries reflecting shifts in architectural practices.

The structure stands as a visible reminder of medieval times in this small village and shapes how residents understand their local heritage. People in the area view it as a connection to their ancestors and the regional history.

The building is currently closed to visitors as it is no longer in service. You can view the exterior from the village and see the architectural details from outside.

The original foundations are Gothic, but Renaissance builders later reshaped its appearance with new features. This layering of styles makes it a good example of how architecture actually evolved in practice in Moravia.
