Castle in Bartošovice is a two-storey, four-winged building with a half-storey and an inner courtyard, its main east facade marked by a terrace over the entrance and a shallow risalit topped by a Neo-Renaissance gable. The rounded northeast corner ends in a small tower, and a second terrace stands before the set-back south wing. Interior features from the 19th century survive in the entrance hall and first-floor piano nobile.

A Gothic fortress of Drslav of Ochaby stood here in the first half of the 15th century. From 1522 the Sedlnický family held the village and rebuilt the seat in Renaissance style, documented by a stone portal dated 1583. The Podstatský family, owners from 1616 to 1768, gave it a Baroque form, recorded in 1674 as a two-storey building with a tower. In 1869–1877 Josef Aresin-Fatton rebuilt it in Italian Neo-Renaissance style.

The former library with a marble fireplace now serves as a wedding hall. In the entrance hall and first-floor piano nobile, 19th-century fittings survive: built-in dining room furniture, coffered wooden panelling, balustraded stair railings and a painted ceiling. Since 2010 an exhibition has been installed in the castle.

The castle stands in the centre of Bartošovice, about 11 km north of Nový Jičín and 9 km northwest of Příbor. The building houses an exhibition opened in 2010 and the information centre of the Region Poodří microregion. A marked educational trail, the Zámecká naučná stezka, runs around the castle; the church of St Andrew, Peter and Paul and the Meinert family tomb stand opposite.

Between 1985 and 1988 the chateau served as a boarding school for 56 children from Namibia during that country's war of independence. The building also holds an exhibition opened in 2010 and the information centre of the Poodří Region association of municipalities, which has used the site since 2000.
