Litinová kašna, Cast iron fountain in Fryštát, Czech Republic
Litinová kašna is a cast iron fountain in Fryštát standing about 5 meters tall with two circular basins connected by a central column. Dolphin sculptures ornament the lower basin, while a golden rosette crowns the top.
This fountain was built in 1900 by the Viennese company Georg Wirth, replacing an original stone water reservoir from 1793. This replacement marked a shift from purely functional water storage to ornamental civic monuments.
The fountain displays four putti sculptures on the upper basin, each representing a different season through their artistic positioning. These decorative figures reflect the craftsmanship valued in the community during its creation.
The fountain sits in Masaryk Square within Fryštát's historic district and is easily accessible to all visitors. The flat plaza provides unobstructed views from multiple angles for photography and observation.
The fountain's base features a circular stone wreath displaying the manufacturing date and Karviná's municipal coat of arms. These details often go unnoticed despite being key markers of its origin and significance.
