Pavilon Z is an exhibition pavilion at the Brno Exhibition Centre with a distinctive cupola structure made of steel and reinforced concrete. The circular building spans approximately 120 meters across and stands 46 meters tall with a prominent glass dome.
Pavilon Z was built for the first International Engineering Fair, held in 1958–1959, and was the largest exhibition pavilion in Czechoslovakia. Its design dates from 1958 and comes from Zdeněk Denk, Zdeněk Alexa and Ferdinand Lederer. In 1989 a full analysis of corrosion effects on the structure was carried out; in the 1990s the structure was repaired, reinforced and the pavilion was insulated.
Pavilon Z was built for the first International Engineering Fair of 1958–1959, and the fair remains its use today. Its name follows the lettered hall system of the Brno Exhibition Centre. Visitors can see the two-tier exhibition gallery that rings the main hall, reached by six staircases, with a second gallery above it served by two more.
The main exhibition floor is ringed by a gallery on the upper level, reached by six staircases; two freight lifts with a combined capacity of 4000 kg carry exhibits up to it. A second gallery above the first is reached by two more staircases. The building is a protected cultural monument, so access follows the exhibition centre's opening arrangements.
