Pavilon Z, Exhibition pavilion at Brno Exhibition Centre, Czech Republic.

Pavilon Z is an exhibition pavilion at the Brno Exhibition Centre with a distinctive cupola structure made of steel and reinforced concrete. The circular building spans approximately 120 meters across and stands 46 meters tall with a prominent glass dome.

The building was completed in 1959 for the First International Engineering Fair and served as the largest exhibition hall in Czechoslovakia at that time. It marked a turning point in exhibition architecture and established new standards for large event spaces.

The pavilion represents mid-century modernism through its distinctive curved steel and glass envelope. Walking around it, you notice how the spiral-shaped tubes create a dynamic visual rhythm that sets it apart from typical exhibition spaces.

The renovated main hall accommodates around 850 seated visitors or up to 1,500 people for concerts and other events. The space features modern technological systems housed in a dedicated tower structure.

The roof structure required four specialized cranes to position its massive steel components on the ferroconcrete perimeter ring. This construction achievement reflects the technical challenges in realizing such an ambitious modern design.
