Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Baroque church in Únětice, Czech Republic

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on a hill in the upper part of Únětice, beside a road it runs almost parallel to. A wall that once enclosed the former cemetery surrounds it, and mature chestnut trees partly screen it on two sides. The single-nave church has pilastered facades with recessed plastic panels; a prismatic tower with an unusual roof rises at the centre of the west front, and a small sanctus turret sits above the presbytery.

The church was founded in 1132 by the priest Zbyhněv, who entrusted it to the canons Ráž and Bezděd by the Únětice Charter; the Romanesque building had four altars. After 1547 Únětice and the church passed to the Chapter of St. Vitus. The present church was consecrated on 23 December 1770, paid for from the estate of Father Nespěšný, and repaired in 1909.

The church is a filial church of the Roztoky parish and hosted regular services on Thursdays at 17:45 and Sundays at 8:30 outside summer holidays. The smallest of its three bells, cast in 1653 by Prague bellfounder Nicolas Loew, carries the canon's coat of arms and the inscription "Gos mich Nicolas Loew in Prag Anno Domini 1653". Two bells added in the 1980s were consecrated by Bishop Antonín Liška on 13 August 1989.
