Divadlo u Hasičů occupies the ground floor of the U Hasičů building at Římská 2135/45 in Vinohrady, next to the Vinohrady Theatre. The theatre hall itself lies in the basement of the Hasičský dům, a clubhouse built in 1927–1929 for the Czech Provincial Fire Brigade Association. Its large hall seats 342 people and has step-free access.

The theatre hall was built in the basement of the Hasičský dům (Firefighters' House), constructed for the Czech Provincial Firefighters' Association in Prague between 1927 and 1929. The building was designed by architects Tomáš Pražák and Pavel Moravec and built by Alois Krofta's firm; it was inspected and approved on 24 June 1929. The hall first hosted Varieté bio, and from 1930 to 1936 the Malá opereta theatre performed here. After World War II, Josef Skupa was allowed to resume his Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre here from October 1945, on condition that he and his wife join the Communist Party; the company stayed until 1995, when the owner gave it notice.

The name refers to the building's origin as the Hasičský dům, a clubhouse of the Czech Provincial Fire Brigade Association. In the theatre café, art exhibitions are held. The hall has also hosted variety shows and, from 1930 to 1936, the Malá opereta company.
