Stezka nad vinohrady, Observation tower in Kobylí, Czech Republic
Stezka nad vinohrady is a spiral observation tower with a sloped ramp that rises about 7.5 meters above the ground. The structure follows an incomplete circular path and provides views across the surrounding vineyards and distant mountains of Southern Moravia.
The structure was created through collaboration between the Brno architecture studio Keeo4design and opened to visitors on October 27, 2018. The opening marked the completion of a project designed to make the region's wine landscape accessible to the public.
The structure takes its name from the vineyards surrounding it and displays informative signs along the path that tell the story of Kobylí village to visitors as they walk up.
The structure can be reached via a sloped pathway without stairs, making it accessible to people using wheelchairs, pushing strollers, and those with limited mobility. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and expect a steady but gentle incline as they walk up the ramp.
The structure requires 19 steel pillars to support its spiral design and incorporates 11 tons of steel in total. The incomplete circular form is a deliberate design choice that gives the tower its distinctive character.
