Vila Viktora A. Beneše, Cultural monument in Smíchov, Czech Republic.
Vila Viktora A. Beneše is a two-story residence in English architectural style with decorative elements and large windows on its stone and brick facade in Prague 5, Smichov. The building features carefully designed fenestration arranged symmetrically along its exterior walls.
The house was built in 1911 for architect Viktor Beneš and initially served as a family residence. Later during nationalization it housed multiple families, then was used for office space.
The interior showcases original stained glass windows created by Czech Art Nouveau artist Alfons Mucha, representing important decorative craftsmanship from the early 20th century. These glass works are considered notable examples of this artistic movement in Prague.
The property is located in Smichov near Strahov hill and can be viewed from outside, though it is no longer open to the public. Visitors should note that the site is currently not in operation and only the exterior architecture is visible.
The building was used as offices by Leo Burnett advertising agency from 1989 to 2004 before standing vacant. This unexpected transformation shows how historic houses in Prague served different purposes throughout the modern era.
