Sadový pramen, Mineral spring in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
Sadový pramen is a mineral spring located on the left bank of the Teplá River in the spa district at roughly 375 meters elevation. The water emerges warm at around 39 degrees Celsius and flows from the ground in a steady stream.
The spring was first recorded in 1852 when a spa institute was being constructed nearby and was originally called Imperial Spring. It eventually took on the name by which visitors know it today.
The spring sits within the spa district where visitors gather daily to drink from it while strolling through covered colonnades. It plays a role in the local wellness routine that guests and locals alike continue as part of their time in the town.
You can reach the spring either by crossing a bridge or by walking along the river path, both of which connect to the spa area. The bridge route is shorter, while the riverside path offers a longer walk if you prefer a stroll.
The water has a notably sour taste from carbon dioxide content that sets it apart from other springs in the area. This distinctive flavor is often the first thing visitors notice when they drink it.
