Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, Catholic church in Všemina, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk is a plain Baroque building of rubble stone and brick, built 1780–1784 by an unknown builder. Its interior measures 15.9 m long, 9.2 m wide and 8.7 m high, and the main tower rises 20 m. Until 1904 it had a shingle roof and a lower tower with a shingle cupola; it was rebuilt twice, most recently in 1904.

A separate spiritual administration was established in Všemina in 1778, with P. Filip Bořuta as its first priest until 1795. In 1780 Christián August, Count of Seilern, patron of the Lukov estate, decided to build a church here; an unknown builder erected it between 1780 and 1784. The consecration date is not recorded. The church was rebuilt twice, most recently in 1904, and in 1963 its interior was modernised to a design by František Paňáz and A. Špetík.

The church honors Saint John of Nepomuk, a saint widely revered in Czech folk devotion and local religious practice. You can see this veneration reflected in the interior furnishings and religious imagery throughout the building.

You can enter through the main entrance, and parking is available nearby along with local restaurants in the village. Attending a service offers the best opportunity to see the interior fully, while the exterior of the building is visible at any time.

The church keeps a sandstone baptismal font from its earliest period, and on the choir pillars stand Baroque statues of Saints Peter and Paul of unknown origin. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk by an unknown Baroque master was moved here from the Church of Saint Charles Borromeo in Prague and placed on the presbytery wall.
