Pomník Jurije Gagarina, Bronze memorial at Karlovy Vary International Airport, Czech Republic
The bronze statue stands 300 centimeters tall, depicting cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in a silver spacesuit with his right hand raised in greeting.
Created in 1974 by sculptor Antonin Kuchar, the memorial was initially placed at the Vridlo Colonnade entrance before its 1992 relocation to the airport.
This memorial represents the only monument dedicated to the first human in space that was erected in former Czechoslovakia territory.
Visitors can reach the memorial by taking bus number 8 from Karlovy Vary center directly to the airport, with the journey lasting approximately 15 minutes.
The creation process required breaking through the studio ceiling to accommodate the sculpture's size before casting it in bronze at Prague's Art Metal Works.
