Pražská brána

The Prague Gate is a stone city gate with Gothic elements set into the preserved fortification walls of Beroun. The arched opening and solid side walls show the typical construction of medieval town entrances.

The gate was built in the 13th century as part of Beroun's city defenses and served as a passage for merchants and soldiers. The wall behind it was maintained over the centuries and remains part of the town's character today.

The gate takes its name from the direction of Prague and recalls the old trade route that passed through this city entrance. Visitors can still see the thick stone structures today, showing how vital this passage was for moving goods.

The gate is visible year-round from outside and sits beside the walking path along the old walls. A stroll through the old town easily combines a visit here with other historic sites.
