Trojská lávka, Steel footbridge in Bubeneč, Czech Republic.
The Trojská lávka is a steel footbridge that crosses the Vltava River between Bubeneč and the Troja district. The bridge extends 256 m (840 ft) in length and is approximately 4 m (13 ft) wide, allowing pedestrians and occasional emergency vehicles to use it.
The bridge was first built in 1984 to connect the then-isolated Troja Island with Bubeneč. A new steel structure replaced the original in October 2020 with improved design to better withstand flooding from the river.
The footbridge connects two residential neighborhoods and is used daily by residents heading toward Troja Palace or the parks across the river. For visitors, it serves as a practical route to reach the green spaces beyond the water and explore the area.
The bridge is freely accessible and offers a pleasant walk above the river with views of the riverside landscape. Visitors should note that it may be temporarily closed during high water levels, so it is wise to check ahead.
The current construction was specifically designed to withstand the extreme flooding events that the Vltava regularly causes. This flood-resistant design is an important part of the infrastructure and shows how modern bridge building adapts to the natural forces of the region.
