Svinovské mosty, Road bridge system in Svinov, Czech Republic.
Svinovské mosty is a road bridge complex in Svinov, Ostrava, built from steel and concrete, crossing the Odra River, railway tracks, and the D1 motorway. The structure brings together several transport routes on multiple levels at one point.
Construction began in the 1970s as part of an urban project to link October 28th Street with Opavska Street across Ostrava. The goal was to improve connections between parts of the city that were separated by rail and road infrastructure.
The bridges connect the eastern and western parts of Ostrava and serve as a daily crossing point for commuters, travelers, and people on foot. Many use the walkways as a shortcut between the train station and the surrounding neighborhoods.
The complex has elevators and escalators throughout, making it accessible for people with different mobility needs. It connects directly to Ostrava-Svinov railway and bus station, so arriving by public transport is straightforward.
The walkways are lined with glass panels in white, red, and gray that make the crossing feel more open than a typical traffic overpass. These color accents also make it easier to spot from a distance against the surrounding skyline.
