Mertova díra, Mining adit in Slavoňov, Czech Republic
The entrance to Mertova díra measures 1.2 meters in width and height, running perpendicular to the Bohdasin stream near ground level.
During the 1780s, mining experts from Kutná Hora examined the adit and discovered traces of silver ore with a 10 percent concentration.
The entrance of the mine features an iron grating that previously contained a statue of a miner, later replaced by a figure of farmer Merta.
Visitors can reach the site using marked hiking trails from Nové Město nad Metují to Slavoňov, where information boards provide details about the mine.
The tunnel extends 50 meters straight before making a downward turn, with water levels increasing as the passage descends deeper underground.
