Vila na Rezku, Folk secession villa in Nové Město nad Metují, Czech Republic
The wooden villa features rough-hewn sandstone plinth, multiple roof styles, balconies, and dormers, reflecting traditional Carpathian architectural elements in its design.
Architect Dušan Jurkovič constructed this villa between 1900 and 1901 for Brno factory owner Robert Bartelmus, following his success with the Pustevny resort.
The interior design incorporates warm reddish, blue, and yellow-brown tones throughout carpets, upholstery, curtains, and structural components, reflecting Czech folk traditions.
The ground floor contains social spaces centered around a two-story living room, while the upper floor houses bedrooms accessed via a staircase and surrounding porch.
The marriage between architect Dušan Jurkovič and Božena Bartelmus, the daughter of the villa's original owner, took place in 1903.
