Čertovy mlýny, Rock formation in Bukovec, Czech Republic
The rocks of Čertovy mlýny emerge near the peak of Girová mountain, forming a collection of natural stone structures with multiple crevices and fissures.
During the 18th century, these rock formations contained caves that provided shelter for regional outlaws who used the complex terrain to evade authorities.
Local folklore connects these rocks to supernatural entities, as the name Čertovy mlýny translates to Devil's Mills in reference to regional tales.
Visitors can reach the formation through a marked trail from Gírová tourist lodge, with the hiking path extending approximately 400 meters to the left.
The 2010 landslide near the formation created a new valley with a width of 300 meters, altering the surrounding landscape permanently.
