Čertovy mlýny

Čertovy mlýny is a rock formation that emerges near the peak of Girová mountain, consisting of several natural stone structures with numerous cracks and fissures. The rocks form a complex pattern of caves and narrow passages that shape the landscape of this mountain region.

In earlier times, around the 18th century, the caves in this rock formation offered shelter to people seeking to escape from authorities. The fractured structure of the rocks allowed them to hide and survive within the tangled passages.

The name Čertovy mlýny refers to regional stories connecting supernatural beings with this site. When walking through today, you sense how these rocks remain tied to the old tales people in the area still remember.

To reach the formation, follow the marked trail from Gírová tourist lodge, which leads you toward the rocks. The path is well marked and your timing depends on your own pace and how much time you want to spend exploring the stone structures.

A significant landslide in 2010 drastically changed the landscape around the rock formation and created a new valley in the area. This natural shift permanently reshaped the geographic features of this mountain region.
