John Calvin Owings House

The John Calvin Owings House is a three-story residence with a distinctive circular turret, octagonal bay windows, and multiple pitched roofs covered in slate. The structure appears complex with numerous gables, window projections, and ornamental details that create a visually rich appearance.

The house was designed in 1896 by architect George Franklin Barber and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978. Its construction came during a period when Queen Anne Revival architecture was highly fashionable among affluent American communities.

The interior displays oak paneling and decorative latticework showing how affluent residents of South Carolina lived in the late 1800s. The handcrafted details offer a glimpse into the high standards of the household during that era.
