The Lester Armour House features white exterior walls, symmetrical windows, and traditional American architectural elements across its five-acre property near Lake Michigan.
Architect David Adler completed this residence in 1931 for Lester Armour, grandson of the meat-packing industry leader Philip Danforth Armour Sr.
The interior design, created by Frances Elkins, represents the refined tastes of wealthy American families during the early twentieth century.
The mansion received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1984, establishing guidelines for maintaining its architectural characteristics.
Singer Richard Marx transformed part of the mansion into a recording studio while preserving original architectural elements from the 1931 construction.
