Capital Wheel

The Capital Wheel extends 180 feet above the Potomac River with 42 climate-controlled gondolas that rotate at 1.5 rotations per minute for extended views.

Constructed in 2014, this observation wheel was developed by Milton Peterson, drawing inspiration from the Roue de Paris and requiring 400,000 pounds of materials.

The wheel functions as a gathering place for celebrations and events, with visitors from Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia meeting to experience panoramic views.

The wheel operates from 4 PM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to 10 PM Friday through Sunday, with tickets ranging from 13.50 to 17 dollars.

From the glass-enclosed gondolas, visitors can see the Washington Monument, Georgetown University, Alexandria, and the National Harbor while suspended above the river.
