Biltmore Hospital, hospital in the United States

Biltmore Hospital is a former hospital building in Asheville, North Carolina, built in 1930 with four stories constructed in Tudor Revival style using brick and stone. The original structure features a flat roof and old-fashioned details, and a two-story wing was added in the 1950s to accommodate changing needs while maintaining the original style.

The original hospital in Asheville, Clarence Barker Memorial Hospital, caught fire twice, leading to the decision to build a new fireproof facility that opened in 1930. With 50 beds, the hospital served the community during the Great Depression and was later repurposed by various companies for offices and other uses.

The hospital stands in Biltmore Village, a neighborhood where old brick buildings and small shops create a traditional feel that visitors can experience today. Walking through this area, you notice how the structure remains part of the community's quiet, historic character and the way people use the surrounding streets and local stores.

The building is located in Biltmore Village and can be visited year-round, with parking nearby and bus connections available for visitors. The site is easily accessible on foot, allowing you to view the architecture and explore the surrounding historic neighborhood.

The building was constructed with fireproof brick after two fires destroyed the previous hospital, designed to prevent such disasters from happening again. Edith Vanderbilt donated the land for construction, and the community organized fundraising events like dinners and dances to finance the project.
