Ebenezer Campground
Ebenezer Campground, Summer camp and historical site in Center Point, Arkansas.
Ebenezer Campground is a summer camp and historical site featuring a central tabernacle with a tin roof, three dormitories divided into sections, and two minister cabins set within a forest. The property preserves its original function for religious gatherings and summer activities.
The site was established in 1854 and experienced multiple reconstructions due to natural disasters and the Civil War. It received registration as a historical place in 1976.
The dormitory buildings are divided into specialized sections styled as traditional tents, each containing sleeping areas and a dining space. This layout reflects Methodist camp meeting traditions that have been practiced here for generations.
The location sits next to Arkansas Highway 4, north of Center Point, making it easily accessible by car. The best time to visit is during summer gatherings, when religious assemblies take place.
The dormitory buildings use horizontal wooden siding with special openings instead of windows to provide natural light and air flow. This design reveals the practical solutions that early Methodists created for their seasonal gatherings.
