The current Brooklyn Park Library opened in June 2016, replacing the original 1976 facility that was built by Setter, Leach, and Lindstrom at a cost of approximately $814,651 and served the community for four decades.
The library's collection reflects Brooklyn Park's multilingual population by offering materials in over 40 languages including Spanish, Hmong, Vietnamese, and various Liberian dialects to support the diverse cultural identity of residents.
Located at 8500 W. Broadway Avenue, the library operates Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm, with reduced hours on weekends and provides free internet access, computer use, and printing facilities.
The library features commissioned public artworks including a lenticular mural titled 'Sectio Aurea' by Norman Lee and Shane Allbritton, along with a bike rack sculpture by Greg Mueller that enhances the building's aesthetic appeal.
