Bleu Horses, Metal horse sculptures on Kamp Hill near Three Forks, Montana, USA.
Bleu Horses is an outdoor sculpture installation featuring 39 blue steel horses spread across a hillside near Three Forks overlooking Highway 287. Each figure stands at a height of roughly eight feet and is positioned to create visual interest across the rolling Montana landscape.
Sculptor Jim Dolan, based in Montana, created these steel horses in 2013 as a tribute to the state that supported his four-decade artistic career. The project grew from his desire to honor the role horses have played throughout western history and settlement.
The sculptures speak to the importance of horses in shaping western life and land use across this region. Visitors encounter a direct artistic reference to the animals that remain central to Montana's identity and daily landscape.
The sculptures are visible from Highway 287 and can be viewed from several vantage points along the road. Parking areas nearby allow visitors to stop and explore the installation from different angles.
The horse figures are intentionally arranged in small groups that mimic natural herd behavior, often fooling visitors at first glance. From a distance or while driving past quickly, they can appear to be real animals grazing on the hillside.
