Lewis and Clark expedition members established a camp at this location in July 1805, documenting the meeting point of three major rivers.
Native American tribes utilized this river junction for centuries before fur traders established Fort Three Forks as a trading post in 1810.
The park maintains 17 campsites, tipi rentals, hiking trails, boat launches, and picnic areas for outdoor recreation throughout the year.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks recorded 33,436 visitors in 2023 at this geographical point where three rivers merge into North America's longest waterway.
