Gallatin History Museum

The Gallatin History Museum occupies a former jail building and displays exhibits about pioneer settlement and the development of Montana. The galleries showcase objects and documents that illustrate how early settlers lived and shaped the local community over time.

The building was constructed in 1911 as a county jail and served this purpose for decades. In 1979 the Gallatin Historical Society took over the space and transformed it into a museum dedicated to preserving local heritage.

The museum holds personal histories and historical photographs that document how people lived in the Gallatin Valley over many generations. Visitors can explore family records and keepsakes that show the deep roots residents built in this region.
