It stands on the grounds of the Wilkes Heritage Museum in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, after being moved there in 1986 from east of Purlear.

The cabin was built around 1780 by Captain Robert Cleveland, a veteran of the Revolutionary War. It was relocated to the Wilkes Heritage Museum in 1986 to make it accessible to the public.
