Moravian Falls, Waterfall in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States
Moravian Falls is a waterfall in Wilkes County that drops about 42 feet over natural rock formations. The cascading water flows into a quiet pool below, creating a small but notable water feature in the local landscape.
Early settlers arrived in this area around 1750 and built homes near the waterfall. The Moravian Church later purchased land in the region, though it did not establish a permanent community there.
The location became a publishing center in the late 1800s, producing several newspapers including The Yellow Jacket with substantial circulation numbers.
The waterfall is visible from Falls Road, about half a mile from the entrance to the area. Access is controlled through the campground office, which issues permission before visitors can approach the water.
A historic house from the 1800s stands near the falls and was added to the national register in 2009. The building reflects the architectural style and life from earlier times at this location.
