Boling-Gatewood House

The Boling-Gatewood House features Greek Revival architecture with a five-bay portico supported by octagonal columns at 220 Randolph Street North.

Built in 1858 by architect Spires Boling, the house belonged to a slave owner and later transformed into a museum dedicated to journalist Ida B. Wells.

The museum exhibits document African American achievements through artifacts and educational displays focused on civil rights and journalism history.

Visitors can access the museum from U.S. Route 78, where they can explore both the architectural elements and historical collections about Ida B. Wells.

Three memorial trees stand in the garden to commemorate the accomplishments of Ida B. Wells's grandchildren Benjamin, Charles, and Donald Duster.
