MacArthur Park Historic District, Historic district in Little Rock, United States.
MacArthur Park Historic District is a 60-acre neighborhood in Little Rock containing Victorian homes, Greek Revival buildings, and structures from the former Little Rock Arsenal. The area displays a mix of architectural styles dating from the early 1800s through the 1880s.
The district formed around 1840 and developed with approximately 19 Second Empire-style houses as its core. It gained recognition in 1977 when added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The neighborhood reflects how Little Rock grew through different periods, with homes and buildings showing the tastes and needs of residents from the 1800s. Walking through, you see how people chose to build and live at different times in the city's story.
The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot and stretches from East Capitol Avenue to East 17th Street. Property owners can take advantage of state and federal tax credits when maintaining or improving their historic buildings.
The area preserves buildings from the former military arsenal, making it a rare neighborhood where civilian and military history sit side by side. This blend gives visitors a chance to see how these two aspects shaped the same place.
