Cobble Villa, Mediterranean Revival villa in Long Beach, US
Cobble Villa is a brick and stucco residence with Mediterranean Revival design featuring multiple gables topped with red terra cotta tiles. The main structure uses an L-shaped layout and was later expanded with a two-story addition and a one-story portico for vehicle access.
The residence was built in 1912 as the first model home of the emerging resort area to showcase the area's development vision. It was officially recognized and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
The home reflects design choices that became popular in Long Beach during the early 1900s, when the city was establishing itself as a getaway for wealthy residents. Visitors can see how such residences shaped the neighborhood's character and appeal.
The house is located on Laurelton Boulevard and can be viewed from the street to appreciate its exterior architectural details and roofline. Visitors should understand that this is a private residence, so access may be limited to viewing the outside of the property.
The home was also known as Villa Clara and preserves many original architectural features from when it was first built. The varying rooflines and stucco details show the craftsmanship of the Elmohar Company, the firm that constructed it.
