Atlantic Beach Bridge, Toll drawbridge in Atlantic Beach, New York.

The Atlantic Beach Bridge is a bascule bridge with a steel girder design that spans Reynolds Channel and connects Lawrence to Park Street. The roadway can be raised to allow boat traffic to pass underneath when needed.

Built between 1950 and 1952, this bridge replaced an older structure that could not accommodate growing maritime and vehicle traffic. The new design provided better clearance for boats and improved road capacity for the growing region.

The bridge links the barrier island community with the mainland and shapes daily life as the main entry point for residents. It has become part of local identity and is used routinely by those who live and work in the area.

The crossing is open to both vehicles and pedestrians, with drivers paying a toll at the booth. Users should note that the bridge may be raised for boat traffic, which can cause brief closures.

This is the only toll bridge in Nassau County, and its movable roadway is regularly raised to let sailboats and other vessels pass through. This dual purpose as both a road and a waterway gate makes it a distinctive structure in the region.
