Hotel Pines, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Hotel Pines is a six-story brick building in downtown Pine Bluff located at the corner of Main Street and West 5th Avenue. It features a distinctive U-shaped layout with a classical portico over the main entrance, ornamental stonework, a roof with carved details, and interior spaces with high ceilings, marble columns, and a stained-glass skylight in the lobby.
The building was designed by architect George R. Mann and constructed in 1913 as one of the leading hotels in Arkansas. It closed in 1970 as train service ended and guest numbers declined, and was subsequently purchased multiple times by different owners without major restoration projects being completed.
The Hotel Pines served as a gathering place for social events and celebrations in Pine Bluff for decades. Its classical design with prominent columns reflected the city's aspirations during the early 1900s.
The building is located downtown and easily accessible on foot from other historic sites and attractions. Note that the interior spaces are not currently open to the public, but the architecture and facade design can be observed from the street.
The building features a stained-glass skylight in the lobby that casts colored light into the space, making the rooms bright and inviting. This painted glasswork was restored by a local preservation project in the 1990s and demonstrates the careful work that goes into recovering historic details.
