The Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum features a collection of locomotives, vintage railroad buildings, and a reconstructed six-stall roundhouse on the original freight yard foundation.
The museum stands on the former Columbia Junction Freight Yard, where the original Columbia Junction roundhouse operated from 1892 until its demolition in the 1930s.
The museum preserves regional railroad heritage through exhibits of steam locomotives, diesel-electric trains, and restored structures from different locations across Connecticut.
Located at 55 Bridge Street, the museum opens on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with admission prices ranging from free to $5.
Visitors can operate a replica 1850s-style pump car along a section of rail that was formerly part of the New Haven Railroad Air Line track.
