The museum preserves the legacy of the Willimantic Linen Company, which operated from the 19th century until its closure in 1985 as the American Thread Company.
The museum maintains a collection of late-19th century replica sewing machines in the Brooke Shannon room, alongside reconstructions of 1880s boarding houses.
The facility opens on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm, charging adults $10 and seniors or students $7 for guided tours lasting 90 minutes.
Visitors can explore the former company store building, which includes a reconstructed manager's office and exhibits depicting mill life at the turn of the century.
