Alden Tavern Site, Archaeological site in Lebanon, United States.
The Alden Tavern Site contains stone foundations from an 18th-century establishment that served travelers and locals in colonial Connecticut.
Built in 1738, this tavern gained recognition when British General Prescott received public reprimand after expressing disrespect toward a meal of corn and beans.
The tavern functioned as a central meeting point where citizens gathered to discuss political matters and participate in community events during the Revolutionary period.
The location now includes a parking facility with 26 paved spaces and 70 overflow spots, constructed following archaeological surveys in 2010.
Archaeological excavations at the site revealed numerous artifacts that document the social interactions and daily activities of colonial-era tavern patrons.
