Fred C. Babcock/ Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area

The 80,772-acre protected land contains pine flatwoods, marshes, and Webb Lake, supporting populations of red-cockaded woodpeckers and northern bobwhite.

In 1941, the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission acquired 19,200 acres from Fred Babcock, establishing the foundation of this conservation area.

Field trial grounds established in 1957 maintain a tradition of regulated quail hunting, with structures including clubhouses, stables, and kennels.

Visitors can access the area through a dedicated Interstate-75 exit, with facilities for hunting, fishing, camping, and a shooting range.

The area implements regular prescribed burns across prairies and pine flatwoods to maintain natural habitats and support wildlife populations.
