51 Astor Place, Modern office building in East Village, Manhattan, United States.
The 51 Astor Place structure rises 183 feet with 13 floors of black glass, black granite, and silver metal fins on its exterior surfaces.
The building, completed in 2013 at a cost of 300 million dollars, replaced the former location of the historic Astor Place Theatre.
A red rabbit sculpture by Jeff Koons stands in the building's lobby, connecting the corporate space with New York's contemporary art scene.
The building serves as headquarters for IBM Watson Group and includes three retail spaces on the ground level with direct street access.
Local residents gave the building the nickname 'Death Star' due to its dark exterior and geometric angular design that contrasts with surrounding structures.
