Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve, Protected canyon area in Northwest Alabama, United States
The preserve encompasses 693 acres of diverse natural habitats, including forests, creeks, waterfalls, and rock formations along marked hiking trails.
Jim and Faye Lacefield initially purchased 40 acres in 1979, gradually expanding the land until donating it to the Land Trust of North Alabama in 2023.
The trails guide visitors through pioneer cabin sites and scenic overlooks, connecting modern-day explorers with the regional heritage of Northwest Alabama.
The preserve welcomes visitors from Friday through Sunday between 7 AM and 5 PM, requiring registration at the visitor support station near the parking area.
The canyon features 350 feet of elevation change, creating diverse microclimates that support varied plant communities and wildlife throughout the seasons.
