Nasby Building

The Nasby Building is an eight-story office structure in downtown Toledo featuring Renaissance-style architecture with prominent tower sections and brick construction. It sits at the corner of Madison Avenue and Huron Street, where it serves as a central landmark in the business district.

Built between 1891 and 1895, this structure held the title of Toledo's tallest building until the Nicholas Building surpassed it in 1906. Its construction marked an era of growth in the city's business sector.

The tower design draws from the Giralda in Seville and marks the 400th anniversary of Columbus's arrival in America. This choice shows how the city wanted to celebrate a milestone in its cultural moment.

The building sits at a major corner in the business district where several transportation routes intersect and pedestrian traffic is steady. Its location makes it easy to reach from different parts of downtown.

The original building featured an ornate cupola that reached about 187 feet high, which was removed in the 1930s. This alteration significantly changed how the structure appeared from a distance.
