Imam Husayn Mausoleum, Shrine in Iraq
The Imam Husayn Shrine is a mosque and shrine located in the city of Karbala, Iraq.
The shrine was first built by the second Abbasid caliph Al-Mansur in 775 AD.
It is one of the oldest mosques in the world and a holy site of Shīʿah Islam.
Every year, millions of pilgrims visit the city to observe Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali.
The shrine has two minarets covered with gold from top to bottom.
